CPS Message to Staff about January 5, 2022 Work Action

Dear Colleagues,

The Chicago Teachers’ Union (CTU) has voted NOT to report to work tomorrow, therefore all classes and school activities are being canceled for Wednesday, January 5. This means that there will be no in-person or remote instruction for students tomorrow.

While classes will be canceled, school buildings will remain open. Principals, assistant principals and all non-CTU staff members who are not on an approved leave or accommodation will be expected to report to work. CTU members should also report to work at schools and are encouraged to do so. CTU staff members must report in-person in order to receive pay for tomorrow; telework (TEL) time submissions will not be paid for CTU employees without prior approval.

We remain committed to working with the CTU to be responsive to their concerns, and to reach an agreement that is in the best interest of all of our students and staff.

We thank you for your support and will provide additional updates as they become available.

Sincerely,

Pedro Martinez

Chief Executive Officer

Chicago Public Schools
