Corporate media push for 'pension reform' as part of attack on teachers in Chicago's real public schools...
As Illinois entered its third year without a state budget and the prospect of the state becoming the first ever to have its bond ratings reduced to "junk" status, corporate media in Chicago continued to attack Chicago teachers pensions as if retired teachers (including this reporter) had created the budget crises (that's a plural) confronting the state. Generally ignoring the fact that the Democratic Party gave the governorship to Bruce Rauner by allowing Pat Quinn to choose Paul Vallas as his running mate, other pundits continued to craft the narrative against teachers and other state workers, while generally ignoring the juggernaut of anti-worker demands pushed by Illinois's billionaire governor.
