CTU Behind the scenes... Who could have guessed that Bruce Rauner and billionaire Ken Griffin were going to spend money to elect Republican loyalists to the Illinois House and Senate? CTU 'PAC/LEG' has last minute by phone meeting to push big bucks to Democrats...

For the second time in three years, the Chicago Teachers Union's "Political Action/Legislative" committee has been called into a last minute by telephone meeting to approve a massive donation -- well in excess of the amount that is supposed to be approved by the union's House of Delegates -- to Illinois Democratic Party candidates for the House and Senate. The supposed reason for the rushrush meeting given by the union's political staffers is that Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner and Ken Griffin, both billionaires, are putting millions of dollars into races for the Illinois House and Senate -- as if nobody knew that before the October 20 meeting of the House of Delegates (which is supposed to vote on major contributions).

The by-phone-only PAC LEG meeting is the second in recent history. The last one took place two years ago, at Halloween 2014, when the union was being rushed into endorsing Chuy Garcia for mayor of Chicago.

There is no appeal when such things take place within the union's rules, mostly because these things have never happened before.
