ELECTION NEWS: Early voting in all Chicago wards began on October 24, 2016... Turnout heavy...

Early voting in every one of Chicago's 50 wards begin on October 24, 2016, with the Board of Elections sending out a mailing to all citizens announcing their polling places if they choose to vote on November 8, and early voting locations if voters (including this reporter) choose to vote early. The struggle for voting rights for all eligible citizens continues across the USA as Election Day 2016 draws near, and stories from the heart of the old Confederacy (and some states like Michigan, Arizona, and Indiana which might be dubbed the "new Confederacy") demonstrating how reactionaries and most Republicans want to deny the vote to as many poor and working class Americans as possible.

Choice

Mr. Trump wants to introduce school choice to what we used to call the Ghetto .For 42 years I taught in South Side High Schools and I welcome choice .So many kids tried to choose Simeon we always had to turn some away, and that was when the building was a true toxic dump. No charter school will ever beat Simeon, or Lane, or Prosser, or Lincoln Park, to name a few. Charters have lots of money to spread around .Too bad for them money cannot buy tradition, memories, style or class. And yes: I already voted for Trump.
