Donald Trump and Bruce Rauner, both billionaires, both philosophical soul brothers... Rauner's hypocrisy exposed when reporters ask him what 'crumbling prison' Chicago schools he had visited -- the answer: Two...

Illinois billionaire Bruce Rauner helped Rahm Emanuel become a millionaire during the three years Rahm left the public sector to make his millions. Rahm "earned" $18 million in three years as a "relationship banker" on Wall Street. Rahm also didn't get in the way when Rauner decided to run for Governor of Illinois, but after Rauner defeated the Democratic Party candidate Pat Quinn, Rauner unleashed his fanatical attacks on the state's public workers and public services. While Donald Trump's racist hypocrisy has dominated the national discussion about the state of the Republican Party, Illinois has been getting a dose of the same level of racism, ideological monstrosity, and hypocrisy through the work of Governor Bruce Rauner, the billionaire potentate who has been holding the state hostage to his ideological biases. During the first week of June, Bruce Rauner characterized Chicago's public schools as "prisons." But thanks to the level of parent, student and teacher activism in Chicago, Rauner's lies were immediately challenged. And thanks to the work of some reporters, Rauner's latest Trumpisms have been exposed.

The facts have been reported, both in some of the press and by parent groups like the Raise Your Hand Coalition.

FIRST, RAISE YOUR HAND'S CRITIQUE:

Governor Rauner can't name one "Crumbling" CPS School he's visited

As CPS stakeholders continued to tweet positive school stories using #notaprison to Governor Rauner, CBS reported that he doubled down on his 'crumbling prison' comments this week saying many CPS schools "are dark, depressing, they’re crumbling. They have metal detectors at every door and police officers and security officers everywhere." But when asked which schools he was referring to, he couldn't name one.

The Sun-Times dug into how many schools the governor has visited since taking office, and the answer is 2, and those schools say they were offended by his comments. Note: he looks pretty happy in the pictures with students at these schools.

Of course, many CPS schools do have intense capital needs, but Governor Rauner is not suggesting that the state fund those needs and invest more equitably in Chicago's students, but rather that our district not get any additional funding. His broad-brushed comments also paint a very false narrative about the culture of CPS as a whole, which may play well with folks outside of Chicago but does not resonate with the thousands of stakeholders in CPS working hard every day with subpar resources. Mayor Emanuel's net worth

I think there is some confusion on Mayor Emanuel's net worth. From everything I have read the estimates of his net worth range between $14 million and $22 million. Ari Emanuel his brother is very possibly worth close to $1 billion due to his Uber investments, and other deals.
