90 percent Increase in Chicago Memorial Day shootings and murders... Bloody Chicago Memorial Weekend... Politicians complain about the 'Chiraq' label while shootings in Chicago increase despite all the publicity stunts by the mayor and his Hollywood handlers....
No sooner had a number of Chicago politicians gone done grabbing some time on TV and in the other media complaining about producer Spike Lee's plans to make a Chicago violence movie called "Chiraq" than Memorial Day Weekend hit, and in less than ten days the body count of American killed and wounded in Chicago was larger than the body count of Americans killed and wounded in Iraq. Hurt feelings and pontifications aside, the numbers spoke for themselves -- or as Chicago officials like to say, "data" told the beginning of the stories. The rest were human tragedies, some large and some very very small.
Complaints about Chicago being called "Chiraq" should have been muted when Memorial Day weekend showed that there were more KIAs and WIAs among Americans in Chicago than in Iraq.It was a bloody 2015 Memorial Day weekend, with 12 Murders and 45 people shot. That is a 90 percent increase from Memorial Day weekend 2014.
Monitoring the continuing uptick in murders in Chicago for 2015 is important. Chicago Police blogs have become the most accurate in reporting crime statistics, as the official reporting, despite exposes about the lies in Chicago magazine and elsewhere, continue.
Thanks to the police blogs, in many cases there is real time reporting of incidents on the streets of Chicago. Two of the blogs that are consistently correct with news and statistics are "Second City Cop" and "HeyJackass.com." Along with blogs, Chicago's corporate media are also startling to document the clear increase in violent crimes in Chicago, despite the Rahm Emmanuel spin machine that in every press release says crime is "down." During the weekends that ended May 2015, Chicago's mayor was busy doing road repair dedications and extending the city's sympathy to the family of the Vice President of the United States -- while trying to dodge reporters as the Body Count on Chicago's streets increased.
