RAHMWATCH: Mayor saves city from minor snowfall, orders all out effort to make sure every side street is plowed this time -- while making sure the TV cameras are watching him at Snow Command...
Not wanting to have the news reports once again showing that Chicago's side streets were left unplowed while the mayor's block and those of powerful city officials were cleared, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel stood on the front lines of another publicity stunt on February 25 and February 26, following the lesson he learned first during the January 2015 snows and more importantly during the voting in the municipal election on January 24, 2015.

When the big snow buried Chicago in January, Emanuel suffered a "Bilandic Day" when his Streets and Sanitation plans got the main streets sort of plowed and streets along the Gold Coast sparkling, while neighborhood side streets from the Indiana border to the 45th Ward were left unplowed and dangerous for several days. Once the February 24 votes were counted, Emanuel jumped to make sure that the plows were out for the much smaller snow that followed the municipal vote.The "Mayor's Press Office" issued a press release on February 25 making sure the media knew he was on the job, making sure the light snowfall of late February was fought more bravely than the earlier snow.
On the morning of the late February snow, the Mayor's Press Office sent out the following press release:
