Veterans for Peace schedules numerous 'Armistace Day' activities for November 11, while CTU and others to do 'Take Back Chicago'
Arnie Stieber has made the announcements below regarding activities of Veterans for Peace and other peace activists for next Tuesday, November 11, which is also a school holiday. Currently called "Veterans Day" in the USA, the event began as Armistice Day, marking the end of battle on the Western Front in The Great War (of 1914 - 1918). The guns fell silent on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month.
November 11, 1918.Earlier this week I sent a list of six actions/events for 11/11 Armistice Day. There is a seventh, also on Milwaukee Ave.
The National Veterans Art Museum (NVAM) is having an open house from 3 - 7 PM for it's newest exhibit, "100 Faces of War". The Museum is located at 4041 N. Milwaukee Ave. 60647. There will be speakers at 5 PM.

Rory Fanning's book launch is at 6:30 PM at the offices of In These Times, 2ndfloor (not wheelchair accessible), 2040 N. Milwaukee, Chicago 60647. Rory has extended his personal invitation to VFP members and friends to be part of the launch of, “Worth Fighting For: An Army Ranger’s Journey Out of the Military and Across America” (http://www.amazon.com/dp/1608463915/ref=nosim/?tag=tomdispatch-20). I can’t think of a better way to spend Armistice Day evening than really supporting a former “troop” and attending the launch.

Armistice Day - a day of peace. A day to reflect on what has been and is being done in our name.
ChicagoVFP will soon be distributing bumper stickers that read, “Protect the Troops – Abolish War”. If you want one (or more), please let me know.
