BLACK HISTORY MONTH: National Writers Union to host African American writers 'Read In' on Saturday, February 22, 2014 in Chicago's Beverly community
The National Writers Union PRESENTS an "African American Read-In" on Saturday, February 22, 2014 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm in Chicago's Beverly community. The event will be held at the Reformation Lutheran Church, 11310 S. Forest in Chicago.
Two of the greatest American talents of the 20th Century, Paul Robeson (left) and W.E.B. Dubois (right) were also radicals committed to justice for working people across the world, as well as racial justice in the United States of America. Robeson acted and sang his works after a career that included law and sports, while the millions of words DuBois published during his life of nearly a century can never be reduced to a few hundred pages in "The Souls of Black Folks" -- although that's not a bad start.Readings should be no less than two but not more than five minutes. Works read must be by an African American writer. If you have books you would like to sell, please feel free to bring copies.
Refreshments will be served.
