'SAFE PASSAGE' not... Gang problems continue as CPS, Mayor add to problems

One shooting was one block south of the CPS Nathanael Greene Elementary School and across the street from St. Andrew's Lutheran Grammar School.

"In an early evening shooting at 5:24 pm on August 28, 2013, in the McKinley Park neighborhood on the Southside of Chicago, an 18 year old was standing on the corner of 37th and Honore was approached by two youth riding on bicycles Chicago Police News Affairs reported. One offender shoot the 18 year old and booth assailants then rode away. The shot youth ran north on Honore and collapsed in front of 3627 S. Honore. On the scene officers confirmed that one suspect was in custody. Witnesses on the scene said that one suspect was found hiding in an apartment on 37th and Honore. On the scene witnesses did not mention any bicycles involved nor was there any evidence of a bicycle in front on the apartment building. The victim, a suspected gangabanger, was transported to Stroger Hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, is listed in stable condition."
