RAHMWATCH November 1, 2012 Rahm to speak at 'Futures & Options Expo' to his day, then will pose with firefighters he continues to disrespect
For the first day of November, Chicago's corporate mayor Rahm Emanuel will be spending part of his day with corporate heavies and another part of the day with people whose union he disrespects and whose jobs he is trying to outsource or make more dangerous.
At 8:45 in the morning, according to the Mayor's schedule, "Mayor Emanuel will deliver brief remarks at the 28th Annual Futures & Options Expo" at the Hilton Chicago. The event will take place at 8:45 AM at the Hilton Chicago, Continental Ballroom, 720 S. Michigan Avenue. The mayor will not take press questions at the time.
Later in the morning, Emanuel will be doing a publicity stunt in front of a group of men and women who risk their lives for Chicago, but whose mayor refuses to respect their union or their work. According to today's Emanuel schedule, "Emanuel will join Chicago Fire Department Commissioner Jose Santiago at a Chicago Fire Department graduation ceremony..." at ten a.m. at Navy Pier's Grand Ballroom. The mayor will not take press questions at that time either.
One of the projects Rahm supported at the Halloween meeting of the City Council was another multi-million dollar TIF project for corporate Chicago. Apollo Plastics at 5333 N. Elston in Chicago will get a major TIF subsidy. According to a mayor's press release: By lowering the operating costs of local manufacturers, the City of Chicago can support their viability and growth as part of a diversified business economy, Mayor Rahm Emanuel said. The company, which employs 70 people, makes injection-molded products for automotive and medical companies, among other clients. It will save an estimated $47,500 in property taxes over the next 12 years through the incentive. The $3.5 million project will create 10 additional jobs...."
