UNO's Juan Rangal to be at City Club of Chicago August 29. Pickets planned?
The City Clubs of Chicago has announced that Juan Rangel, CEO of United Neighborhood Organization (UNO) will be at the City Club public policy luncheon on Wednesday August 29, 2012 for the noon luncheon. The event will take place on Wednesday, August 29, 2012, with an 11:30 AM Reception and a 12:00 PM Luncheon. The event will take place at Maggiano's Banquets, 111 W. Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL.
Some day, when Chicago professors stop their slavish work for the Plutocracy and the "one percent," a dozen PhD dissertations on Crony Capitalism in Chicago in the 21st Century will be written about UNO and the careers of Juan Rangal (and family) and Danny Solis (and family). The expansion of the racist UNO charter schools across Chicago has been facilitated by Democratic politicians from Springfield (Governor Pat Quinn) to Chicago (two mayors, Richard M. Daley and Rahm Emanuel) despite the fact that most UNO "campuses" have failed and that UNO's dirtiest little secret is how is discourages Black children and teachers from taking advantage of the "choice" is hypes in its anti-union schools. Rangal's UNO charter school received nearly $100 million from the State of Illinois for "new school construction" and regularly leases CPS buildings for $1 per year for charter schools which are hostile to unionization and which pay their teachers less than union scale.
Several groups are contemplating picketing the City Club meeting as a protest of Rangal's longstanding union busting.
