AFT REPORTS: AFT delegates unanimously approve resolution supporting locals, including Chicago, under direct attack from corporate 'school reform' government officials
The national convention of the American Federation of Teachers on July 29, 2012 unanimously passed a major resolution pledging solidarity with locals and state unions facing unprecedented attacks from government. One of the locals mentioned explicitly during the debate on the resolution is the Chicago Teachers Union, Local 1 of AFT, which has been under attack by former White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel (and the seven-member school board appointed by Emanuel) since Emanuel became Mayor of Chicago in May 2011.
