Karen Lewis on WBBM will make the puffery shows and WBEZ's Jean-Clude platitudes sound like the nonsense they are
Word is that Sunday's "At Issue" program on WBBM radio will prove that the attacks on the Chicago Teachers Union being promoted by WBEZ (Chicago's ridiculous "Public Radio") are really leaving out most of the story. We're talking, of course, about the fact that WBEZ gives the ignorant platitudes of Jean-Claude Brizard air time while insulting and boycotting the work of 23,000 teachers and the leaders of the Chicago Teachers Union. But that's going to change, at least this weekend, when Karen Lewis goes on the air:
The CTU press person, Stephanie Gadlin, sent out the following objective notice earlier today: "Today, CTU President Karen Lewis taped “At Issue” with veteran Political Editor Craig Dellimore at CBS Radio, and she was outstanding. The special guest is Rosalind Rossi, education reporter with the Chicago Sun-Times. The program airs Sunday on various radio stations, including WBBM-AM at 9:30 p.m...." CTU may have more from this show on its Website, www.ctunet.com.
Meanwhile, more and more teachers and other real Chicagoans are taking to calling Jean-Claude Brizard (reminder: never refer to him as "J.C." like Rahm does or you'll be tried for blasphemy) when he is on the air and asking him to get away from those carefully rehearsed cliches and talking points that reveal, over and over, how little he knows about Chicago — and the education of urban school children in the real world. Although Brizard tries to get in as much teacher bashing as he can during his time on "Public" radio, often a good question can let some of the truth come out.
You might also ask Jean-Claude why he's supporting the censorship of WBEZ's coverage of the monthly meetings of the Chicago Board of Education.
