Lawyer now chief of Illinois Stand for Children
Substance just learned that Stand for Children Illinois announced last week that it had a new executive director, a lawyer named Mary Anderson. Anderson, according to an e-mail from Stand for Children's Jessica Handy, will be the new Executive Director. No mention has been made about the elimination of Etoy Ridgnal, who was the main person pushing Stand for Children's Illinois policies between December 2010 and April 2011.

Subject: We have an Executive Director!
Dear fellow “groupies” (as Nicole would say),
I have great news to share! After an extensive search process, we have at last hired an Executive Director – Mary Anderson, who will begin officially on August 22.
Some of you know Mary from her work reviewing Illinois RT3 application, as Senior Advisor to the Attorney General. She has served as Deputy Inspector General at the Office of the Executive Inspector General, as Staff Attorney with the Chicago Coalition for the Homeless, and as Board President to the Chicago Appleseed Fund for Justice. Mary has also been watching the SB7 process as it unfolded and has great respect for the collaborative approach and the incredible experience everyone here brings to the table.
We are lucky to have found such a great fit for this position, and I look forward to introducing you to Mary in person soon as we continue our shared vision to improve public education for all students.
