Substance comments must be signed and provide accurate and current e-mail addresses
Since April 15, the Substance website has received numerous comments, most of them in response to the beginning discussion of SB7 and the legislation in Illinois pertaining to the future of the rights of teacher unions. Several of those comments have been removed from the site because the person doing the commenting failed to provide his or her first and last name and an accurate e-mail address.
Following is the e-mail we sent to one of those individuals (who provided a first name, but not a last name). Individuals who utilized pseudonyms or gave non-existent e-mail addresses have been deleted:
Hello Reader...
As we tell our readers, commenting to Substance requires that the person making the comment sign his or her full name (first and last name) and provide Substance with an accurate e-mail address.
In order to make future comments on the Substance website, please do this. Your current comment has been retained because we assume that the name on your email address is accurate and you. We will be returning to this question in one day, and will remove your comment if this proves false.
The reason for this policy is that our reporters and analysts make a great effort to accurately cite sources in all of our articles, and we expect our readers to do the same if they wish to comment.
Substancenews.net is not a blog, and we consider the affectations of blogging to be contrary to democracy and common sense. Only when people take responsibility for their opinions can we expect to change things.
Thank you for commenting to Substance.
