SUBSCRIPT: Goeffrey Canada's union busting, teacher bashing hypocrisy on display on Colbert Report

"Waiting for Superman" star Goeffrey Canada (right) brought his union busting gospel to some of the most powerful politicians in Illinois. Left, Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley. Center, Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan. If they decided one day to give an Academy Award for teacher bashing, corporate shilings, and sheer mendacity, it will have to go to "Waiting for Superman" star Goeffrey Canada, who has ridden his way to fame and fortune by conforming his narrative to the union busting wishes of the billionaires and hedge funders who have long bankrolled his "Harlem Children's Zone." While Canada's union busting and teacher bashing are fairly well known, there are still many teachers who believe Barack Obama and Arne Duncan when they say this guy should be the model for the nation. That's why it was good that the Comedy Central Colbert Report on January 4, 2010, gave Canada a chance to unload all of his phony data and talking points against public schools and teacher unions in one place. But at Substance we don't have to convince you that the guy is a fraud, with incredible media marketing behind him. Just watch the Colbert Report's five minutes with "Superman" and judge for yourself...
