CORRECTIONS AND CLARIFICATIONS: CPS says it was not a block but a 'routing issue' that stopped Chicago teachers from getting to this web site
Following the report here at SubstanceNews that Chicago Public Schools had blocked access to www.substancenews.net from school and central office computers, we ran a quote from Communications specialist Malon Edwards.
On April 26, 2010, Mr. Edwards called and asked Substance to clarify that he did not say that CPS had acknowledged it had blocked Substance and said that IT people at CPS had stated that it was caused by a "routing problem." CPS officials are preparing an e-mail statement clarifying their response, which I requested because my notes from the phone indicated that we had a disagreement over what precisely was said.
As of the end of the workday on April 26, we had not received the promised email. In the interest of accuracy, we are reporting this as of now, and will report the written clarification when it arrives here. The next time our editors will be on line will be between midnight and 1:00 a.m. on April 27, 2010.
